Ghost has finally released the music video for their new album’s single “Rats” and it features new front man Cardinal Copia.

It’s the moment we have all been waiting for. From the release of Chapter One: New Blood to Chapter Two: Introducing the Cardinal, we have all been waiting for the video of new front man Cardinal Copia in action. And today, Friday the 13th appropriately, Ghost released the music video for their new album’s single “Rats.” See it for yourself.

If you are on the Ghost’s Facebook page or read the comments of the music video, there are those that complain that this song has way too much of a “pop” sound to which I humbly say, “you’re out of your damn mind.” If you listen all the way through, this is one of their more metal sounding songs along the lines of “Mummy Dust” or “Spirit.”

Another thing people are complaining about is the dancing. I don’t understand all the hate. Cardinal Copia is probably the most extra of all of the band’s leaders and I am so digging it. It greatly offsets the much darker tone of the lyrics and the surrounding visuals. Tobias Forge in a recent interview talked about this album and stated that it would be darker and that a change was coming in tone and he was right.

Commenting on the actual visuals they included, death is prominent. Death, disease, punishment and a white horse. I don’t know about you, but this screams Horseman of the Apocalypse to me and it’s very effective. Whether Cardinal Copia is meant to represent the Antichrist, the Horseman of Pestilence or the Horseman of Death is yet to be seen, but it would seem if anything, Ghost is successful in making us talk about the music.

Now, about Cardinal Copia…I retract what I said about him. He looks so cool. He has the energy and stamina to dance and it’s magical. The outfit is on point and, I’m sorry, but I’ll say it. Cardinal Copia DOES in fact have sexual charisma. Somehow, that boom box carrying goofball pulled it off. I cannot WAIT to see what more is in store from Cardinal Copia and the Nameless Ghouls who seems to have a noticeable change.
