With A Quiet Place destroying the box office with stellar direction, acting and writing, Director John Krasinski is already brainstorming the sequel.

A Quiet Place is expanding…

Deadline is reporting A Quiet Place is getting a sequel fast and its writer/director already has ideas. With the Paramount Pictures release seeing huge numbers at the box office, a sequel became reality at CinemaCon. With fans (and certainly the studio) clamoring for more, John Krasinski is already working out ideas for the second film. We won’t blame you for getting loud now….just watch out for monsters.

"“It’s only a short while since the movie came out,” The Office alum tells Deadline. “But already people are saying, ‘We want to live in this world more,’ which is really interesting. I’m surprised people aren’t like, ‘Nah, we know what this is, and we just want to leave it as it is.’ ”"

The director, who’s currently riding a wave of success, admits he originally thought A Quiet Place would be a stand alone experience. “To be perfectly honest, it was never really on my mind while we were making it,” Krasinski says. “I never really thought of it as an expanded world; I always thought of it as a one-off.

While still in the early stages, including who the director will be (it better be Krasinski), the emerging filmmaker does offer ideas on where to take the blossoming franchise. “The thing that I loved in the movie. Where my mind kept wandering as we were making it, was the question of who was on the other end of those fires, when the father lights the fire and in the distance those other fires light up. How did those people survive? How did that old man survive?”

Although I must admit I’m against a sequel — only because the original is so freaking perfect — I do like how Krasinski is already thinking about ways to expand. It’s great seeing the talent already turning those mental gears, readying his next adventure in the land without sound. And while I may be worrying the film could lessen the original, I’ll be there opening day ready for war with those blood thirsty creatures.

A Quiet Place stars Emily BluntJohn Krasinski and Millicent Simmonds. Krasinski directs a screenplay co-written by himself, Bryan Woods and  Scott Beck. Platinum Dunes produces, with Paramount Pictures distributing. The horror hit is now playing in theaters everywhere.
