Arresting his way to number four on our list of best horror dads is Friday the 13th Part VI’s Sheriff Garris. Law and order of Forrest Green, after its name change from Crystal Lake, Garris is a tough SOB but a loving father. After his daughter begins finding chemistry in a perceived “mental-ill” Tommy Jarvis, Garris begins attempting to protect Meagan from Jarvis. Of course, Jarvis is right and the only one who can stop the real threat, but Garris is only doing what is needed to protect his daughter — albeit dickish in the process.

Eventually, Garris goes toe to toe with Jason Voorhees in a battle he knew he’d lose. Why did he? Because that’s what good fathers do. They sacrifice themselves at any cost for their children. Sometime you get broken in half, but it’s all in the name of love.
