William Marshall as Blacula in “Scream Blacula Scream” – From American International Pictures

3. Scream Blacula Scream (1973)

I suppose you might be wondering I didn’t just go with 1972’s Blacula. I suppose I very well could have but I find that the plot to Scream Blacula Scream is more entertaining and for God’s sake, Pam Grier is in it!

Lisa Fortier (Pam Grier) is nominated by her voodoo cult as the new leader when their Mama Loa dies. The original successor, Willis (Richard Lawson; Poltergeist) is none too happy about this and decides to use a voodoo curse to resurrect Prince Mamuwalde aka Blacula (William Marshall) to do his bidding.

Blacula, of course, has other plans and turns Willis into his slave. He hopes that Lisa can help him get rid of the curse so that he may rest in peace, but of course it can’t be that simple. Filled with exploitation antics, this film screams 70’s and it is a whole lot of fun!

You can rent Scream Blacula Scream from Vudu and Amazon Instant Video.
