James Gunn could eventually resurface at another studio

Although James Gunn has been terminated by Disney, there are plenty of other studios considering using his services.

The Hollywood Reporter has spoken to several producers and studio executives and many are expressing interest in working with James Gunn. Despite Disney being unwilling to reinstate him, that isn’t stopping others from approaching the beleaguered director.

However, Gunn’s services for now are confined because he is still negotiating his exit with the House of Mouse. Warner Brothers which is home to the DCEU is said to be courting Gunn’s interest.

Recently, Dave Bautista has been highly vocal on social media about Gunn’s dismissal. As a matter of fact, he came out and said that if Gunn’s script would not be used, he would quit the franchise. THR states that Disney plans on using his Guardians of the Galaxy 3 script.

Although he is in demand, it is believed that most parties making overtures of interest will more than likely wait several months to avoid potential backlash that hiring the director could bring. Apparently, after all is said and done with Disney, he could net a payout of $7 million to $10 million or higher according to experienced talent representatives that spoke with THR.

What the Future Might Hold

An intriguing notion is that Gunn might end up developing or directing another Marvel effort. According to a source, “An end-all verdict hasn’t been issued and conversations with Marvel are still ongoing.” After weeks of this never-ending saga, it seems that most of Hollywood’s denizens are willing to forgive and forget chalking it up to having an “inappropriate sense of humor.”

The outpouring of support for the director from fans and colleagues has been staggering. What is fascinating is that throughout all this drama, Gunn has remained quiet. On Twitter, his last posts were on July 19 basically explaining his development as a person and expressing remorse for his past actions.

Only time will tell how the situation will evolve and what the outcome will be for James Gunn.
