8. Tarana – Ustad Sultan Khan (S02 E08 Ashy Slashy)

The companion episode to Delusion, Ashy Slashy finds Ash loose in the asylum and he is out for blood. Or so everyone thinks. Actually, he is playing Baal at his own game.

After he discovers that everything is a scam when he sees the Ghostbeaters arrive at the facility, Ash pretends that Baal is manipulating his mind when in fact he is just trying to lure him into a room so that he can send him back to hell.

Bruce Campbell is exceptionally creepy in this show. I don’t know if it is his coiffed hair or his “guy-liner” that makes him look menacing but when he is walking around the asylum hunting the Ghostbeaters down he is quite frightening.

He also excels at giving a particularly intense, black look which is unnerving. In the end, Ash’s plan works and he succeeds in getting all of the Ghostbeaters in one room with Baal so Pablo can conjure up the Necronomicon passages to send the demon back to where he belongs.

However, while they do send Baal packing Pablo is collateral damage as he is cut in half by Baal before his demise. Tarana which is known as an “ultra-chill” song plays over the end credits.

It is trippy and otherworldly sounding which meshes nicely with the craziness of this particular episode.
