7. I Could Write a Book – Dinah Washington (S01 E09 Bound in Flesh)

Dinah Washington is one of my favorite vocalists and I am a huge admirer of this old standard. Fans of the movie, When Harry Met Sally will probably remember this being covered by Harry Connick, Jr. Where that incarnation of the song is very romantic, the way it is used in Ash vs Evil Dead is befitting.

Since the series is known for its offbeat humor, when the song plays over the end credits you can’t help but crack up. The reason being is that this is the show where Pablo gets the cover of the Necronomicon stuck to his face.

Bound in Flesh is the beginning of his transformation. The minute that skin mask molds itself to his face, he is becoming one with the book. It is unfortunate but as for reasons that won’t become clear until two seasons later it will actually turn out to be quite fortuitous.

We also get treated to double the Ash, double the fun as he battles his evil twin. Actually, that never gets old because there is always some crazy bit of splatstick involved. Of course, Bruce Campbell gets to toss out a few priceless one-liners here and there too!
