The Castle Rock Times: Things get a little bloody in episode 8

We’re coming down to the wire with season one of Castle Rock, residents of Elm Street. Now the heat is rising with still so many questions left to answer.

After two huge cliffhanger endings the last two weeks in Castle Rock, we can now confirm the heart wrenching finish of episode 7 actually happened. The couple who moved to town last episode have a dark secret, naturally. We still don’t know much about “The Kid”, however, I am starting to get some idea of what it is. Henry sends Wendell home on a bus, but Wendell stops in another familiar town to Stephen King fans.

More from Stephen King

It appears the only character actually created by Stephen King, Alan Pangborn, is really dead after being shot by Ruth Deaver at the end of episode 7. I was hoping that it would turn out to be another timeline, but no. It happened. The new couple that own the Castle Rock Bed and Breakfast aren’t as good as they seem. The husband has a sudden obsession with “The Kid,” brought on by a plethora of paintings by the former Warden Lacy. They are also fascinated by the murders that happened there. So much so, that they decide to add to the total.

Henry is saved by Molly from his captors. It doesn’t do much good though, considering Henry almost immediately falls prey to the murderous B&B couple, but he is saved by Jackie Torrance. In light of everything going on, Henry decides to send Wendell back home. While on the road Wendell begins to exhibit the same affliction as his father. The willful teenager gets off the bus early in a town called Jerusalem’s Lot. Yes, THAT Jerusalem’s Lot as in Salem’s Lot. Salem’s Lot is a mere 24 miles from Castle Rock. I wonder how far Derry is?

Finally based on a certain picture found in the B&B, I now have a theory on who or what “The Kid” is. In the picture he is wearing the same shirt that Henry was wearing when he went missing in 1991. Also he mentions saving Henry from the basement. So I think “The Kid” is Henry’s dark half. The memory of things happening at that time he has blocked from his mind. Perhaps Castle Rock is purgatory? Whatever is going on we’ll find out in the next two weeks. So be here the next two Wednesdays for the next edition of The Castle Rock Times.
