Joe Bob Briggs: Home for the holidays on Shudder

Joe Bob Briggs is returning to Shudder over the holidays with an added surprise.

“We broke the internet.”

It’s Time for Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Joe Bob

In July, an unprecedented event occurred on Shudder. Joe Bob Briggs made his triumphant return to television for an epic horror movie marathon. Billed as The Last Drive-In the event did so well in the ratings that it turned out not to be his last rodeo.

Yesterday, Shudder made a major announcement via press release. Briggs was going to be returning to the network for two holiday specials. So, instead of spending another boring Thanksgiving at Aunt Betty’s house eating too much turkey and falling asleep, now you can stay up all night with Joe Bob!

The first marathon will take place on Thursday, on Nov. 22 and is titled The Dinners of Death. Much like his show in July, this one will also stream live and feature films that Joe Bob has personally picked. There will be guests, plus Drive-In deep dives and lots of witty commentary.

According to the man himself, “In November we’re turning Black Friday into Red Thursday with the best deadly-dinner movies in history.” Not only can you spend time with the tall Texan on Thanksgiving but you can hang with him before Christmas too.

That’s right. There will be another holiday edition marathon on Friday, Dec. 21. So, it’s like Christmas is coming a couple of days early. This time in the guise of A Very Joe Bob Christmas.

Let’s hear the host describe this event in his own words. “We have a very special way to fill that void felt by American households ever since ABC stopped airing the ‘Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey’ Claymation special.”

Now for the Best Part

Just knowing that Joe Bob is back in the saddle again is amazing but he will be returning again in 2019 for a series! Details will be forthcoming at the beginning of next year but what we do know is that the show will be produced by Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell and directed by Austin Jennings.  This team is also responsible for the marathons.

Instead of feeling the usual holiday dread, suddenly I am looking forward to the winter months. Just knowing that two more marathons are on the horizon makes me feel less like the Grinch. So, if you don’t have Shudder, here is how you can get it courtesy of the network.

SHUDDER’s expanding library of film, TV series, and originals is available in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Germany on most streaming devices for 4.99/month or 49.99/year. To experience SHUDDER commitment-free for 7 days, visit www.shudder.com.
