Hanukkah, a unique horror movie focusing on the Jewish holiday surfaced in 2010. Eight years later, we get a teaser trailer starring iconic actor, Sid Haig.

Hanukkah, the festival of lights will be here before you know it. However, the horror movie directed by Eben McGarr takes that familiar holiday and turns it upside down with an 80’s style slasher movie. In 2010, Geek Tyrant reported on this unique effort, however nothing really started happening with the project until May of this year when Halloween Daily News reported on the Indiegogo campaign.

Yesterday, a teaser trailer surfaced courtesy of Brainwaves. Not only does the film boast horror legend Sid Haig but also Caroline Williams, Charles Fleischer of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? fame and P.J. Soles! With this terrific cast, it is hard to believe that it took Hanukkah so long to come to fruition.

I will warn you, the promo does contain some disturbing images. So, if you tend to scare easily, you may want to tread carefully. The opening to this teaser is full on Sid Haig who stars as serial killer Judah Lazarus a.k.a. the “Hanukkiller.”

As he sits at a table contemplating the horrible deeds that he has committed, we hear Amon Feist (Charles Fleischer) recounting the grisly tale. We find out that Lazarus was a psychopath who apparently believed that God spoke to him and gave him 53 additional commandments.

While we are being drawn into the action, we see Judah go to a closet that appears to be full of his victim’s heads. Think of it as a trophy area, so to speak. His signature calling card was carving the “Scar of David” onto his kills.

Much like the biblical story of Abraham and Isaac, Judah was getting ready to sacrifice his son, Obediah before he was apprehended by the authorities. Immediately this project conjures up imagery from other seasonal offerings like Black Christmas, Halloween and Krampus.

Of course, since Obediah was spared, he has some issues to work out. According to the official Hanukkah synopsis courtesy of Brainwaves:

"“Warped by hatred with no guidance, Obediah Lazarus becomes a religious extremist, intolerant of non-Jews, “bad Jews,” and those he perceives to be enemies of the Jewish faith. He is about to unleash eight nights of horror. A group of Jewish teens are getting ready to party for the holidays but are in for a Festival of Frights. With the help of a wise Rabbi, they deduce that the murder victims have violated Judaic law and that their only chance at survival is to embrace their faith.”"
