With the new Halloween slashing its way through theaters, Judy Greer (Karen Strode) is opening up about shooting that harrowing ending.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for the new Halloween. Do not read if you’ve yet to see the Blumhouse film.
Think Halloween is intense to watch? Try being in the thing….
Thanks to the Indiewire crew, we’re getting some revealing details about the new Halloween. If you’ve seen the current horror sensation, you’ll remember the last 15 minutes is intense, edge-of-your-seat, material. With three generations of Strode women taking Michael Myers head on, the finale is unarguably one of the movie’s best offering.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Judy Greer (Karen Strode) sat down to discuss the battle with the boogeyman and apparently it was as crazy to film as it is to watch. Here’s what the veteran actress is saying:
"“I pray that if that happens to be me, I will [expletive] step up. It was important that Karen rose to the occasion, and I’m glad it worked. I was just really swelling with pride in that moment, like, “Oh, my God! It worked it worked it worked it worked it worked it worked it worked it worked it worked!”"

While I’m not the biggest fan of the new movie — it has some fundamental storytelling problems — the ending is undeniably stellar. Featuring Greer having a career-best moment, it almost makes up for the film’s litany of issues. So don’t worry Karen Strode, it worked very, very well. But then again, you can’t kill the boogeyman…
Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak and Judy Greer. David Gordon Green directs a screenplay from Green, Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley. Blumhouse Productions produces, with Universal Pictures distributing. Michael Myers is in Haddonfield having fun again, only in theaters.
