Why it’s so frightening: Twisty is easily one of the most frightening creatures American Horror Story has presented its fans. The scary, murdering clown is portrayed by John Carroll Lynch, and he does an amazing job in the role! The jaw that’s not all way there, mask, the way he speaks, every single thing about Twisty the clown is scary!

It’s heartbreaking how, before he became the infamous Twisty, he was a regular clown. In fact, one of the best in the business, a very nice man. Unfortunately, two of his jealous co-workers stained his good name by telling people he was a child molester. Twisty left, and when he returned, his false reputation was known by everyone in town. He couldn’t take the hate and shoots himself, but fails to kill himself. He only manages to disfigure his face as he shoots his jaw, this explains the horrifying face he has.

Twisty the Clown frightened nearly everyone. Many fans even debated watching this season over clown phobias and clowns. When he appeared in Cult, fans were equally concerned. Not to mention, Cult already had many other phobias that triggered audiences. Twisty became so popular, many fans called (and some still do) for a Twisty the Clown spin-off!
