American Horror Story: 15 most horrifying AHS episodes
By Sandy C.
1. Season 1, American Horror Story: Murder House, episode 7, “Open House”
Why it’s so frightening: So, we’ve covered failed hanger abortions, the abuse of children, but here’s a new one for you, how about a dismembered baby? Yeah, American Horror Story went there, and in the very first season, too!
In the seventh episode of American Horror Story: Murder House we get more details about one frightening character we’ve seen haunting the house, and he’s probably the creepiest of all. But the way he looks, scares, and kills his victims isn’t nearly as terrifying as his origin story. Let’s just say American Horror Story took the story of Frankenstein and tripled the horror.
Viewers learned many details about Thaddeus throughout the season, but it’s “Open House” that brings the story full circle. Thaddeus is Dr. Charles and Nora Montgomery’s baby who is kidnapped and dismembered. His remains are mailed back and the grieving parents are devastated. Dr. Charles goes insane, collecting his son’s chopped up remains and puts him back together. To bring him back to life, he inserts the beating heart he had of an aborted baby (doing abortions was his side business). We don’t see this (thankfully), this is what he tells his wife. But we do, unfortunately, see most of everything else, and that baby, who grows up to be one of the scariest creatures in the series!
