Bubba Ho-Tep: Joe Lansdale hints at idea for a new comic book series

Bubba Ho-Tep and the Cosmic Blood-Suckers adventure is about to end, however, writers Joe Lansdale and Josh Jabcuga might have another comic book series idea.

Bubba Ho-Tep and the Cosmic Blood-Suckers comic book series is one of the best endeavors from IDW. Fresh off Bruce Campbell’s announcement that he was retiring from playing Elvis in any more Bubba incarnations, the Joe Lansdale and Josh Jabcuga effort came at the right time.

Let’s face it, Don Coscarelli’s film is beloved by many horror fans. That audience has been clamoring for a sequel for years. Campbell is a popular cult icon. In the meantime, what better to fill that particular void than an original work from Lansdale and Jabcuga?

Yesterday on Twitter, both writers teased the possibility of another comic book series on the horizon.

Given the built-in readership for this potential franchise, it would seem like a no-brainer that IDW would snatch up this concept from the get-go! Elvis fighting werewolves in Sin City? Where can we sign up?

Not only does this have the potential to be a top selling comic but dare I put this into the universe, a television series or another movie? Yes, I know. Bruce won’t be involved but there are other viable candidates out there.

The possibilities are endless. Elvis and Colonel Parker fought vampires. If Joe and Josh have their way, the duo and their gang could take on lycanthropes. While we are at it there are killer robots, covens, demons or an army of ghosts…you see where I am going?

Obviously with Dynamite Entertainment pairing Ash Williams and Elvis together, IDW is aware of the ability to create a Bubba Ho-Tep universe not unlike Marvel.  Perhaps, the King could partner up with another character in the future.

I know I am not the only one who wants to see another comic book series from Lansdale and Jabcuga. The ball is in IDW’s court now. If you are interested in more Bubba, let them know on Twitter @IDWPublishing.
