Robert Englund has just been added to the lineup for Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con. The con takes over the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, IL August 2 – 4, 2019.

The last time we saw horror legend Robert Englund, he was reprising his iconic role as Freddy Krueger on the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs.

Englund had originally turned down an offer to bring Freddy to The Goldbergs. But after a beautiful fan letter from executive producer Adam Goldberg and a careful consideration of his fans, Englund brought Freddy back.

And those fans were thrilled to have OG Freddy back, even if it was just for one episode of television. Fans in the Chicagoland area were just as thrilled today when the Facebook page for Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con announced Englund’s return to the con next August.

It’s early, but Flashback Weekend adds Englund to a lineup that already includes Bruce Campbell with a promise to add more big names in the near future.

Flashback Weekend is always a good time. Most of the celebrity guests have their tables right in the dealer room. So, even if you’re stuck in a long line waiting to meet your horror hero, you can still pop over an buy that Hannibal Lecter Funko Pop that you didn’t know you needed. Celebrity photo ops are grouped by cast and are run like an assembly line.

More from A Nightmare on Elm Street

Which makes me wonder who else will be joining the lineup. Fans in the Facebook group have been asking for Heather Langenkamp. This would be a good year for that to happen.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a panel that included some of the cast from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors? Yes. Yes it would.

I’d settle for some news of Englund bringing Freddy back to the big screen for one last nightmare. There are a few ways this could happen. It could reboot the franchise the right way. But, that’s all speculation. I’m happy Robert Englund is coming to Flashback Weekend.

Discount hotel accommodations are already available at the Crown Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. There is free shuttle service to and from O’Hare Airport.

One of the newest additions to Flashback Weekend is the Murray Brothers Caddyshack restaurant located within the hotel. It’s owned and run by Bill Murray and his brothers. It’s named and themed after the classic 1980 comedy Caddyshack. They offer a special horror themed menu during the con.

Tickets and VIP packages aren’t on sale, yet. Check back with Flash Weekend over the coming months. This is going to be a good one.
