Although fans were not happy about the return date since Oct. was more optimum, expectations were high for AVED’s debut. For months, Bruce and company teased that this was going to be the mother of all seasons and if they weren’t renewed for season 4 the fans wouldn’t be disappointed.
Meanwhile, everyone was getting signatures for a season 4 petition and AVED watch parties and live tweet events were scheduled. Feb. 25 arrived and most fans were ecstatic. The first episode featured a Deadite mascot, an interesting beheading and the introduction of Ash’s daughter, Brandy as played by Arielle Carver-O’Neill.
That’s right. Ash had a daughter from a brief Branson shotgun wedding. After that bombshell (which Bruce Campbell told us about throughout his book tour) we then met another new character, Dalton. A Knight of Sumeria and descendent of all those Knights in Army of Darkness. Lindsay Farris was a welcome addition to the cast.
While it pains me to bring this up, the show suffered declining ratings. Despite everything that was being done in the end, it wasn’t enough to obtain a season 4. On April 20, Bruce Campbell took to Twitter to announce that “Ash had left the building.”
