Braid: When the ultimate cash grab goes horribly wrong

Braid looks like one of those films that will leave people talking long after the viewing experience is over. In the latest horror effort from Blue Fox Entertainment, we learn exactly what some people will do for money.

Braid is one of those movies that is reminiscent of the 70’s era of horror. From the opening shots of the trailer where every frame seems to have that Kodachrome feel to the actors looking like they just stepped out of an old Polaroid picture. You can’t help but get that Last House on the Left vibe.

That creepy whistling on the soundtrack to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat is your cue that games are about to begin and they aren’t necessarily going to be fun. This offering from Blue Fox Entertainment hits you in the gut immediately.

When Daphne (Madeline Brewer) and Tilda (Sarah Hay) decide that they are going to visit their wealthy childhood friend Petula (Imogen Waterhouse) in the hopes of breaking into her safe to score some much-needed dough, you can’t help but wonder how this escapade will turn out. We can see that Petula lives in an incredible mansion by herself so you can tell she is loaded.

However, while it would appear that Daphne and Tilda are going to rob their friend, that isn’t the case. They are going to play games with the hope of obtaining a cash prize. Except these particular games are not for the faint of heart. Immediately when they enter the house dressed as schoolgirls you know nothing good is going to come of this visit.

As a matter of fact, they play “doctor” at the behest of Petula. Remember Misery and how Annie “cured” Paul from wanting to leave her care? Well, let’s just say that testing your reflexes with a ball peen hammer may not be the way to go.

From that point on, we know that these girls better play by Petula’s rules if they have any hopes of making it out alive with the monetary reward. From strange dollhouses to sitting in front of a Jello mold bound by rope, I would have to say that my goal would be just to escape from this potential hellhole.

But it gets worse, grave digging, what appears to be a pseudo operation about to be performed, I can’t help but think that maybe not having more money than Oprah might not be a bad thing. As a matter of fact, it may be lifesaving.
