9. Logan Marshall-Green – Upgrade (Lead Actor)

While Upgrade was a surprise hit over the summer, little credit went to Logan Marshall-Green. The actor has been a journeyman throughout his career, often relegated to the disrespectful title of a “poor man’s Tom Hardy.” Well, Upgrade proved that the actor can deliver something special when given the chance.
Playing a paraplegic, the man goes on a violent crime spree to avenge his wife’s death. Marshall-Green imbues a sadness and melancholy that makes him empathetic. He communicates a lot through his eyes and considering he has to move like a robot when he does stand, it is a really great internal performance.
