Dean Cain is on board with Bruce Campbell hosting Ripley’s
Dean Cain, the former host of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has quite a bit in common with Bruce Campbell, the new host of the Travel Channel’s latest incarnation of the series. It is no surprise that he would be supportive of the actor’s venture.
Dean Cain who is best known for playing Clark Kent/Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman has quite a bit in common with Bruce Campbell. Their professional lives have intersected more than once.
From 1993 until 1997 ABC aired the fan favorite series about the relationship between Clark Kent (Superman’s alter ego) and his stalwart companion, Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. This was a runaway hit for the network and fans tuned in every week to watch the chemistry between Dean and Teri Hatcher.
However, in 1995, Campbell appeared in 3 episodes of the show as Bill Church, Jr. Church was a businessman of sorts who ran his father’s company. While this sounds on the up and up, it certainly wasn’t. At one point, he used Kryptonite against Superman.
This isn’t the only time that the two actors crossed paths. Dean was also in Burn Notice with Bruce. He portrayed Ryan Pewterbaugh, a member of Michael Westen’s CIA team.
Not to mention the fact that the pair have often found themselves at various conventions together. The most recent one they attended was Fandemic Tour in Houston last year.
Then in 1999, Cain found himself starring in a revival of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for the new millennium. Picking up where Jack Palance left off in the 80’s, the series had another successful run until 2003.
Now, it seems everything has come full circle and the two actors are together once again. Well, sort of. Campbell is the new host of the Travel Channel’s version of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! set to air on the network this summer.
So, it is no surprise that Cain is on board and fully supportive of Bruce taking over the role that he once held. In an exclusive with LifeZette, this is what he had to say about his former colleague.
"“No clue how they’ll do the next version, but I know and really like Bruce, so I’m rooting for him and the show to be awesome!”"
It is always refreshing to see actors support one another especially since Hollywood is such a competitive, “dog eat dog” kind of town. One thing is for certain, Dean Cain is a class act.
