Elm Street: Heather Langenkamp added to Chicago Flashback Weekend
By Luke Lucas
Chicago Flashback Weekend has added Heather Langenkamp to their guest list. The con takes over the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, IL Aug. 2 – 4, 2019.
A Nightmare on Elm Street fans are getting their wish as Heather Langenkamp is joining Robert Englund at Chicago Flashback Weekend. The mini-reunion is sure to be a big attraction for a lineup that just keeps getting better.
Langenkamp’s first major role was as the iconic Nancy Thompson in the late, great Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street. It’s hard to imagine someone else playing Nancy. Langenkamp brought this relatable intensity to the role. I always think about how wide her eyes would keep getting throughout the film.
Nancy was discovering the rules of the nightmares and Freddy Kreuger. As one of the ultimate final girls of the genre, Nancy came up with a strategy to defeat Freddy and put it into action. You could follow her level awareness through her eyes. The went from being wide with fear to being wide with I-gotcha.
Langenkamp reprised her role as Nancy Thompson in the epic A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and as a meta version of both herself and her character in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.

The celebrity lineup at Chicago Flashback Weekend is already pretty strong. Besides Langenkamp and Englund, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi from the Evil Dead franchise will be there. One of the newest additions to Flashback Weekend is the Murray Brothers Caddyshack restaurant located within the hotel. It’s owned and run by Bill Murray and his brothers. It’s named and themed after the iconic 1980 comedy Caddyshack. They offer a special horror themed menu during the con.
