Obsessed (2009)

This is another one that can thoroughly freak your partner into permanently opening a highway of communication with you. Sometimes you deserve the consequences of your actions like in What Lies Beneath. Sometimes, however, no matter how hard you try, you can’t avoid something, like the advances of a person who is certifiably insane. This whole film could have been avoided with just a little bit of communication.

Obsessed was written by David Loughery and directed by Steve Shill. It stars Beyoncé, the always classy Idris Elba and Ali Larter (I am indifferent to her since she butchered the character of Claire Redfield).

Elba and Yonce are a happily married couple as Derek and Sharon. Derek just received a big promotion at work and gets a new secretary, Larter’s Lisa. Lisa and Derek nicely speak but Lisa has more interest in Derek than is reciprocated. When he doesn’t accept her advances, she increases the intensity of her forwardness. All the while, Derek doesn’t want to worry his wife Sharon as the problem gets worse and worse. Larter plays the creepy manipulation well and Beyoncé and Elba did an amazing job. This movie is a definite win and is an intense addition to a Valentine’s Day horror night.
