X-Ray / Hospital Massacre (1981)

This film is known by two different names. It was originally called Hospital Massacre, but searches now will show it as X-Ray.  A common theme around Valentine’s Day horror movies is that a Valentine’s rejection is much worse than a regular one, apparently.

X-Ray is one of the more violent films on our Valentine’s Day horror movies list but is often deemed a classic Valentine’s film. It was written and directed by Boaz Davidson with the screenplay by Mark Behm. It stars Barbi Benton, Charles Lucia, and Jon Van Ness.

Barbi Benton plays Susan, who goes to a local hospital for a routine checkup. While she is there, the hospital locks down and she is trapped inside with a man who is stalking her and starts killing all any staff that helps her. He is dressed like a surgeon, complete with a mask. She begins to wonder if this is the same man who killed her friend 19 years before after a Valentine’s Day humiliation.

The film is a classic early 80’s over the top killer style with lingering bits of the 70’s. If hospitals and doctors made you nervous before, I can’t imagine that this movie is going to help with that fear any.
