Predator (1987)

Romance. Intrigue. D, you may be thinking, why the hell is the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic, Predator, included on a Valentine’s Day horror list?? You have a good point. Why IS this movie included? Is this a touching love story about a boy and his “choppah”? Is it a romantic tale of an alien who felt love at first sight and decided to pursue his love through the jungle? No to both of those.

There is one reason and one reason alone why this movie is included: tradition. It all comes down to How I Met Your Mother. Every Valentine’s Day, Lily and Marshall watch Predator for the holiday. Why? Does it matter? Predator has now become a Valentine’s Day horror movie.

If you have been living under a rock, Predator stars our favorite action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, Elpidia Carillo and more. A group of elite soldiers are on a rescue mission in the heart of the Central American jungle when a crashed alien interrupts the mission and just starts skinning people alive that are a threat. This movie is filled to the brim with 80’s action one-liners and I can only hope that this film becomes a holiday tradition for you, too.
