Valentine (2001)

There is just something about early 2000’s horror movies. It all started with Scream and evolved from there into films like Scary Movie, Urban Legend and more. Valentine has that same aesthetic, meaning it’s BLATANTLY early 2000’s. The cast, the clothes, the story, the acting. There was a distinctness of films in that time period and it’s endearing, really.

The story starts in 1988 at a Valentine’s Day dance. A boy gets rejected over and over until the chubby Dorothy seems into him and they make out under the bleachers. When they are caught, she claims he attacked her and he is humiliated and beaten.

Now in 2001, the ladies are grown and dealing with being in their 20’s. When all of the mean ladies begin receiving Valentine’s death threat cards, they try to figure out what is happening as they are murdered one by one by an attacker in a cherub mask. If we didn’t need another reason to avoid dances, there is another  one for you. Plus, I will pretty much watch anything with David Boreanaz in it so, why the hell not?

Valentine was directed by Jamie Blanks and stars the period regulars: Denise Richards, David Boreanaz, Katherine Heigl, Marley Shelton and Jessica Cauffiel.
