In a surprise announcement by Shudder, Critters: A New Binge will be coming in March to the streaming service and the premier date is very soon

March is going to be an amazing month for the horror streaming service, Shudder. First was the return of Joe Bob Briggs and The Last Drive-In, and now Shudder has announced they’re acquiring the rights to the Critters franchise and giving fans a new series in the next few weeks. According to their press release, critters are invading this month with the new show Critters: A New Binge.

From the minds of Zombeavers (which is amazing if you haven’t yet seen it), Jordan Rubin, Jon Kaplan and Al Kaplan, comes an eight-episode series which they wrote and act as executive producers. There are also some OGs in the Critters game with Rupert Harvey and Barry Opper as executive producers. Jordin Ruben is directing the series and it is being produced by Front Street Pictures Inc. and Abominable Pictures in association with Blue Ribbon Content. From the press release:

"Pursued by intergalactic bounty hunters, the Critters return to Earth on a secret mission and encounter lovelorn high-schooler Christopher (Joey Morgan, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), his crush Dana (Stephi Chin-Salvo, iZOMBIE), his best friend Charlie (Bzhaun Rhoden, Van Helsing), and his mom Veronica (Kirsten Robek, The Edge of Seventeen), whose past will come back to bite them—literally. The series also features Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin, Justice League Action) and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich)."

Critters: A New Binge sounds pretty amazing. If you aren’t familiar with the Critters franchise, it started in 1896 and starred Billy Green Bush, Dee Wallace, Nadine Van Der Velde and Scott Grimes. When equally adorable and scary furry aliens fall from space to a family farm on Earth, the Brown family must fend off the extraterrestrial baddies and save a member of their family  from the sharp-toothed space furballs. If that sounds amazing to you, well then I think you’re going to really enjoy this series.

Critters: A New Binge premieres March 21 and all eight episodes will be available to stream that day. If you don’t have a Shudder subscription, I think the time is now to change that. The service is only $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year and you get exclusive content like the new Critters series as well as much more. Keep an eye on 1428 Elm for more on Critters: A New Binge and more from Shudder.
