Bruce Campbell has a new gig. In addition to hosting Ripley’s Believe It or Not? for the Travel Channel, he will be joining the cast of the animated zombified comedy series, The Last Kids on Earth for Netflix!

The Year of Campbell

Bruce Campbell who is currently filming Ripley’s Believe It or Not? in Orlando, is one busy man. Deadline announced that he will be joining the cast of the upcoming animated series on Netflix, The Last Kids on Earth. The actor will be in illustrious company with Mark Hamill, Catherine O’Hara, Rosario Dawson, Keith David, Nick Wolfhard, Garland Whitt, Montse Hernandez and Charles Demers.

Based on the best selling Penguin Random House book series by Max Brallier, this production could end up being another resounding success for the streaming titan. Nick Wolfhard will be playing the title role of Jack Sullivan, a teenager who is surviving the aftermath of the apocalypse.

When he isn’t fighting the teeming hordes of zombies and other monsters, he is busy hanging with his friends in a tricked out tree house complete with a moat and weaponry. His friends are a motley crew consisting of his bestie, Quint, ex-bully Dirk, his monster companion, Rover and June, the girl who stole his heart.

It seems like the number one threat looming over Jack and his team’s fun existence is the genius monster, Blarg.  If they can defeat him, they can keep their world safe. Since this is a comedy, you can probably expect a lot of sharp one liners and amusing situations set amidst the backdrop of a dystopian landscape.

What We Know So Far

While we don’t know who Bruce Campbell will be playing since that information at present isn’t available, we do know he is on board for the entire first season which consists of 6 episodes! Which is another reason for his fans to sign up for Netflix if they aren’t already members.

Right now, The Last Kids on Earth is set to premiere some time later this year. Atomic Cartoons in partnership with Netflix will be producing the show. Author Max Brallier is the creator and executive producer. Scott Peterson is the show runner and Matthew Berkowitz and Jennifer Twiner McCarron will be executive producers for Atomic.

Based on the characters that we have mentioned, since Bruce has a larger than life personality and a commanding presence, his talents might make him best suited to portraying Dirk or better yet, Blarg, the badass monster who is out to get Jack and his squad.

It would be a great change of pace to have him voice the villain! Since this news was just announced, we will keep you up to date on the production when information becomes available. It looks like 2019 is shaping up to be Bruce Campbell’s year!
