Child’s Play and the 15 best horror movies coming this summer

8. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (August 16)
For such a hefty summer horror movies list, this is the first and ONLY film that takes place in the water. That’s a little disappointing. Just like a lot of autumn horror film releases take place around Halloween, I was hoping for a little more summer themes in this season’s releases, but I am happy that there is even one.
47 Meters Down: Uncaged seems to have no relation to the previous film starring Mandy Moore and Clair Holt and only seems to have the ocean and sharks in common.
This film follows a group of young female divers as they explore the ruins of a sunken city, which is great and all but you just know something is going to go wrong. It’s all fun and games until they start to be hunted by an aggressive and deadly shark species and the more they swim and hide, the further they become lost in the ruins.
The entire concept sounds claustrophobic and I will probably be sitting there trying to catch my breath the whole time. Personally, I am very much looking forward to this wet horror adventure. Would it be too much to wear scuba gear to opening day? Yeah, you’re probably right.
