3. Midsommar (July 3)

I can say that it took me a shameful amount of time to watch Hereditary and I didn’t really like it. I may be the only one because Heredity took horror by storm last year and it was Ari Aster’s first time directing a horror film. I mean, if you’re going to go, go big or go home I guess.

Many people were ecstatic when Aster revealed that he was making another horror film to premiere in 2019 and people are already chomping at the bit to see it and I’ll be honest, I am too. The film is called Midsommar and it looks completely different from Hereditary.

Where the filming style of Hereditary was dark and brooding, Midsommar seems Spring-ish and colorful with pastels everywhere. It follows a young couple taking a vacation in Sweden, where they stay in a small village and part in their seasonal festival. The girlfriend is hesitant, but the boyfriend convinces her. What they find on the trip is the strange events that occur during the festival

Perhaps the style seems more intriguing because it is so light and airy and we know that there will be darkness hidden beneath that pastel filter, but I am very excited for Midsommar.
