15. Tone-Deaf (August 23)

This is a film that rode up unexpectedly. I hadn’t really heard any publicity on this film, but when I looked it up, I was a little shook from the names that popped one. One of them being one of my personal favorite actors: Ray Wise, who has quite the horror resume from Twin Peaks to Digging Up the Marrow to Reaper and more.

On top of that, we have Mr. T-1000 himself, Robert Patrick as the baby-booming curmudgeon lead of the film. I would see this film just for those two but the story also offers some good entertainment.

Tone-Deaf was written and directed by Richard Bates Jr. and follows the story of a woman who rents a country home. She lost her job and ended a relationship, so she is ready to get away for some time for herself. Little does she know, the older man she rents from is not only very conservative, but certifiably psychopathic.

Their competing personalities plus an extensive age gap  (and the intense psychosis) causes tensions which explodes into a bloody climax. I am pretty excited to see this one myself and it is a shame that more people don’t know about it.
