After watching the entirety of “Good Omens” on Amazon Video, we list for you the 5 reasons why it is the best series ever and why you need to watch it too.

I love Good Omens. Like, I REALLY love Good Omens and I don’t just mean the show. When the special covers came out in America when I was in high school, I pre-ordered the Crowley cover and I still have it, safe and sound.

I have been waiting years for a screen adaption of one of my favorite books but with adaptions, there is a bit of hesitation. I have been burned in the past with my favorite things turning into shows or movies  and I admit that I was nervous. At the end of episode six, I literally clapped.

I couldn’t have asked for a better adaptions of Good Omens. It was quite literally perfect and I don’t have a single bad thing to say about it except that I never wanted it to end. Instead of doing a review on this show, which you already know I loved, I wanted to talk to you about the 5 best things from the show, the 5 major reasons why I fell in love with it so hard. In no particular order: “Get thee behind me, foul fiend. After you.”

5 of the best reasons to binge watch Good Omens:

1. Crowley and Aziraphale

These two CARRY this show. Granted, there are so many funny characters and moments but the angel and demon are the heart and soul of this story. I want a friendship like these two have and it is pure. Michael Sheen and David Tennant were perfectly cast and did an amazing job playing the best of friends.

One of the hardest parts of having your favorite book (or game) turned into a movie or show is having the characters that you have imagined in your head turn out to not match your version. It happened to me with Harry Potter, Resident Evil, and so far with Uncharted. That is not the case with Good Omens. I would like to give a standing ovation to the casting because this was the best it could ever be.

2. The Music

Crowley’s music specifically. The intro song is great, don’t get me wrong, but the music when Crowley is driving or appearing is always Queen and it is perfect. Queen is one of the best bands that there ever was and their rock ‘n’ roll “devil’s music” is the perfect soundtrack to Crowley’s side of the story. Can you tell that Crowley is my favorite. OH! And if he is your favorite too, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab has a Crowley perfume and it is AMAZING.

3. The Editing

The editing in Good Omens reminds me of the double-decker bus scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It is this choppy, fast-paced editing that is just so…British. This WHOLE show is very British. The humor, the effects, the writing (well, duh), it is so different from American shows. I have always been a fan of British comedy and Good Omens takes the best of British editing and comedy and brings it together.

4. Satanic Nuns

The Chattering Order of St. Beryl are the Satanic nuns that work to blend the Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan and Lord of Darkness otherwise known as the wee baby Antichrist into society as the son of an American Ambassador. Sister Mary Loquacious, an exceptionally chatty nun of the chattering order, screws it up royally and loses the son of Satan. Without her, there is no Good Omens story. I just love these nuns. They aren’t in the show very long but they sure make an impression.

5. Agnes Nutter and her Execution

You may be wondering why an execution is one of the best moments of a mini-series but trust me on this one. Agnes Nutter is the local prophecy maker and witch back in the 1600’s. She is executed by being burned at the stake but she doesn’t go down easy.

The witch hunter, Though-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer, thinks he is surprising Agnes with her own execution, but she meets them at the door and says, “You’re late.” She is definitely an underrated character.

A few of the honorable mentions are the demons, the Four Horseman, Jon Hamm and Shadwell. If I am being honest, everything about this show is perfect. There is not a thing I can negatively say about it. Even the length is spot on.

Six episode are just enough to tell this story (see that Game of Thrones???). If you have Amazon Video, watch this Good Omens. It is endearing and hilarious and it will make you want to read the book.
