7. Amityville: The Awakening (2017)

This is one of the more well-liked of the sequels and it is definitely a different concept than what has been used for the previous films. While most of the families are involuntarily haunted by the dark forces that inhabit the Amityville house, what would happen if someone purposely moves in with the intent to use those dark forces and evil entities to do their bidding. And what if their bidding was to save someone’s life?

That seems pretty interesting doesn’t it? This story follows a single mother whose son is comatose. In an effort to save his life and wake him up, she picks up her family and moves the into the notoriously haunted murder house at 112 Ocean Avenue.

She hopes to connect with the evil that lives in the house to wake up her son, but dancing with devils doesn’t always work out how people hope and her son’s twin sister, Belle, starts becoming suspicious of her mother as her brother begins to recover alongside strange paranormal occurrences in the house.

This installment was written and directed by Frank Khalfoun and stars Jennifer Jason Leigh as Joan, Bella Thorne as Belle, McKenna Grace as Juliette, and Cameron Monaghan as James.
