6. The Amityville Murders (2018)

This film is the newest of the entire bunch. Most of the films on the list focus on the families and events that occurred after the deaths of the DeFeo family. They usually touch on the story or mention it or it’s even the only connection the movie may have to the Amityville Horror franchise at all but none have done a horror movie on the DeFeo family and what happened that make Ronald Jr. murder six people. This movie chose to dig into that story.

There have been so many conspiracies and mysteries and theories surrounding the DeFeo family including the mafia, a hitman, the family being drugged and how a high-powered rifle murdered half a dozen people in one house, yet it was heard by nobody, anywhere. Life and death is full of mysteries and The Amityville Murders moves to tell the story of the life and deaths of the DeFeo family and the trial of Ronald DeFeo, Jr. where he explained voices told him to kill.

This film was written and directed by Daniel Ferrands and stars John Robinson as Ronald “Butch” DeFeo, Jr., Chelsea Ricketts as Dawn, Paul Ben-Victor as Ronnie, Diane Franklin as Louise, Noa Brenner as Allison, Zane Austin as Marc, and Kue Lawrence as Jody.
