5. Amityville 3D (1983)

It’s hard to trust anything  with the word “3D” in their title and I get that, especially in the 80’s. For all of you youngsters out there, that meant glasses with one red lens and one blue one and when you put them together, it makes this strangely colored 3D world that mostly worked but also gave you a little bit of a headache. With a film that touts 3D in the title, I can see why you would be just a little bit nervous.

This sequel takes us back to the house on Ocean Avenue when a man who is separated from his wife moves in. After his daughter dies in a tragic accident, she is sometimes seen in the house. Because of this, a man is called in to find out the source of these occurrences and try to debunk the paranormal activity. It turns out that these events may be a little difficult to debunk.

This installment was written by David Ambrose and directed by Richard Fleischer. It stars Tony Roberts as John Baxter, Tess Harper as Nancy Baxter, Robert Joy as Elliot West, and Candy Clark as Melanie. Some enjoy this film and others find it slow, but the return to the house that started it all is a plus to the story-line. I don’t think the 3D aspect aged as well with it, but we won’t hold that against it.
