The Haunting of Hill House’s Victoria Pedretti to return for second season

Victoria Pedretti appeared as Nell in the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House, and now it appears she will be returning for The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Fans of Netflix’s adaptation of the Shirley Jackson novel The Haunting of Hill House will be very happy about the latest news regarding season two. Back in March, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season with the title The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on the Henry James classic The Turn of the Screw, and will not include any of the characters or story from The Haunting of Hill House. But, if you loved the actors portraying the Crain family members, there is something you should know.

Victoria Pedretti, who gave a splendidly heart wrenching performance as the adult Nell, will be appearing in Bly Manor as the governess, Dani. This makes me happy beyond belief, because this was exactly the wish I expressed in the story I wrote about The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The Haunting of Hill House was Pedretti’s first acting job, for which she won an MTV Film award for Most Frightened Performance. She has since appeared in Quentin Tarrantino’s newest film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Apple’s Amazing Stories, and was cast as the lead in Netflix’s upcoming second season of You.

Of course, the question now is whether or not Mike Flanagan will also cast some of the other actors from The Haunting of Hill House. If he’s sticking close to the source material, there are certainly some great options.

In The Turn of the Screw, the governess is caretaker for two young children, a boy and a girl. As you may remember, the youngest of the Crain children, twins Luke and Nell, were portrayed by Violet McGraw and Julian Hilliard. Both of these two very young actors gave fantastic performances in The Haunting of Hill House, so I would love to see them in The Haunting of Bly Manor!

The children’s mostly absentee Uncle could be played by Henry Thomas (please), and the housekeeper could be portrayed by Carla Gugino. There are also a male and a female “ghost” in the novel, so could we see Michiel Huisman and Kate Siegel in these roles? We can only hope!

I don’t know about you, readers, but I am anxious to hear more news about The Haunting of Bly Manor! Do we really have to wait another year?
