3 From Hell: Full trailer shows the return of the Firefly family
The Firefly family is still alive somehow and ready to bring big doses of chaos and blood in Rob Zombie’s 3 From Hell.
Many will argue that there are too many trilogies going on in the film industry, and it’s true… but there’s not much we can do about it. Some are necessary, others not so much, and somewhere in between falls the upcoming 3 From Hell, the sequel to House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects.
Rob Zombie first introduced the fictional family of serial killers, the Fireflies, in House of 1000 Corpses, and by the end of The Devil’s Rejects it seemed like the world had three less killers to worry about. Well, turns out we were wrong, and Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) survived being shot multiple times and are ready to create more chaos.
Last month, a teaser for 3 From Hell was released, but now we have a full trailer to give us an idea of the overall vibe of the movie. There’s no official synopsis yet but (just like its predecessors) it’s not like it has a complex narrative, let’s be real. The idea, as seen in the trailer, is that the Fireflies survived, and made their way out of jail to continue killing.
Like the rest of Zombie’s movies, 3 From Hell will feature generous amounts of blood and violence and has already received an R rating – it’s easy to see why. Most of his work relies more on shock value than on the narrative, which has drawn a lot of criticism and divided the audience.

Some love them, some hate them. Others like one or two of his movies and the rest just exist.
Anyway, judging by the trailer, we can also see that the story will have a certain level of realism. In it we can see that the crimes of the Firefly Family have drawn the attention of the media, and with it come people who will support them and campaign for their freedom, hence the tagline “Free the Three”.
This is very similar to what happened with the Manson Family in the 70s-80s. Maybe the horror of it all doesn’t have to do with the blood but more with how these events impact society.
3 From Hell, written and directed by Rob Zombie, and starring Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Sheri Moon Zombie, as well as frequent Zombie collaborators Jeff Daniel Phillips and Richard Brake, will have a limited release in September.
