6. Ash Williams – Ash vs Evil Dead

Ash Williams didn’t find out that he fathered a daughter until the final season of the series. We were introduced to Brandy in an interesting way as her mother Candy Barr confronted Ash with the news in the middle of his hardware store.

We discover that his daughter was conceived after a wild Branson, Missouri quicky wedding after Candy has resurfaced to ask him for help. Brandy is under Deadite attack at her high school and needs to be rescued.

Thus, the saga begins. Brandy loses her Mom in the most horrific and bizarre way possible (severed head from a cymbal being thrown at her by a demon). She and Ash have serious issues as she thinks he is a joke and he has trouble communicating with her.

However, throughout the course of Season 3, the two wary parties learn to love one another. For Ash, this is a dramatic undertaking because he has been alone for over four decades. He has never had to care about anyone but himself.

In the end, he has Pablo “kill” him so he can rescue her from the Rift. After saving her life, he does so once again by putting her in a van with Pablo and Kelly so that she can safely get away from Kandar the Destroyer.

The “lone wolf” becomes the leader of a pack and a heroic father by vanquishing a demon to save the world and his only daughter. That is love, pure, simple and selfless.
