By Mads Lennon
8. American Horror Story: 1984
- Starring: Emma Roberts, Gus Kenworthy, Billie Lourd, John Carroll Lynch, Leslie Grossman, Cody Fern, Matthew Morrison, Angelica Ross, DeRon Horton, and Zach Villa
- Premiering: September 18 on FX
Not much is known about the upcoming ninth season of American Horror Story beyond the theme. But it wouldn’t feel like fall TV without a new rendition of AHS. We know the theme is going to be about ’80s slashers like Friday the 13th and it will be titled 1984.
Beyond that, we don’t know much about the official plot. Evan Peters won’t return this year and Sarah Paulson will have a much smaller role as she focuses instead on Murphy’s other project, Netflix’s Ratched.
7. Emergence
- Starring: Alexa Skye Swinton, Allison Tolman, Ashley Aufderheide, Clancy Brown, Donald Faison, Owain Yeoman, Robert Bailey Jr., and Zabryna Guevara
- Premiering: September 24 on ABC
Emergence isn’t your typical horror series but it does contain some paranormal elements that may make it worth your while if you’re looking for a spooky new series to watch during fall TV season.
The series follows Jo Evans, a police chief in Long Island who finds a child abandoned at the site of a mysterious accident. Jo realizes the child, named Piper, doesn’t have any memory of what happened. Jo begins to notice strange electronic disturbances and seemingly otherworldly forces all related to the girl.
