Florida’s Spooky Empire gets even spookier
By Carla Davis
Central Florida’s very own Spooky Empire has added even more genre notables to their already impressive roster.
This year’s convention will be held at the Tampa Convention Center, rather than Spooky Empire’s usual home in Orlando. It seems they needed a bigger space, and when you get a load of their guest list you can see why.
Already slated to appear are:
Elvira / Cassandra Peterson, rock legend Alice Cooper, Tony Todd (of Candyman fame), actress Mia Farrow (Rosemary’s Baby), C.J. Graham (Friday the 13th part VI), writer/director Clive Barker, Ted Raimi (Evil Dead), director Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead), James Hong (Big Trouble in Little China), Danielle Harris (Halloween IV and V), Joe Bob Briggs (The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs), and Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead).
After the above guests were announced, a few more were added, including:
James Ransone – James appeared as Deputy So-and-So in both Sinister and Sinister 2. He is currently appearing as Eddie Kaspbrak in It Chapter Two.
Roger L. Jackson – Jackson has lent his distinctive voice to animated series and video games such as The Power Puff Girls and Red Dead Redemption II. However, he is best known as the voice of Ghostface in the Scream films.
Tony Moran – Tony appeared in the original Halloween as the unmasked Michael Myers. He has also appeared in American Poltergeist and Clown Motel: Spirits Arise.
Cerina Vincent – Cerina has appeared in Tales of Halloween, Return to House on Haunted Hill and Power Rangers. She also appeared in Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever (the original version).
Ashley Laurence, Barbie Wilde and Nicholas Vince – This trio of actors appeared in Hellbound: Hell Raiser II. Ashley played Kirsty, while Barbie and Nicholas appeared as Cenobites.
Announced yesterday, Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Mark Mendoza and Eddie Ojeda. If you don’t recognize those names, you may know them better as heavy metal band Twisted Sister.
Finally, another announcement was made Friday from Spooky Empire. The cast of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives will be joining C.J. Graham. Appearing will be Thom Matthews (who played Tommy), Vinny Guastaferro (Deputy Nick), Darcy DeMoss (Nikki) and Tom Fridley (Cort).
If you are interested in seeing any of the guests at Spooky Empire (most will be available for autographs and photo ops), please know that they are not all appearing every day. There will also be opportunities to attend Q&A panel discussions. You can check the website for info and purchase tickets at spookyempire.com.
The dates for this year’s Spooky Empire are Thursday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 3.
