11. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a little similar to another entry on this list, Halloween III: Season of the Witch. The reason being that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 took a distinctive shift in tone from the original movie.

The sequel had more gore than the original, which focused on the atmosphere and performance to create fear and tension. The second movie also had a lot of black comedy which was unexpected and many viewers didn’t like it at the time of its release.

Over the years, like Halloween III, Texas Chainsaw 2 has gone on to gain a passionate cult following.

The movie takes place 13 years after the first movie and follows two high school seniors on a road trip to a Texas football game. They wind up Leatherface’s first victims in the movie and thus the film’s events begin.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 also contains relatives of the Hardesty family, who fell victim to Leatherface in the original movie.

If you’re a big fan of the franchise, you should definitely watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Shocking Truth documentary. It contains a lot of fascinating details about the franchise and this movie. Originally, this film would have contained an additional scene of slaughter with the Sawyers killing people to make them into chili. You can check out the deleted scene in the DVD extras. Yuck.
