2. Mr. Boogedy (1986)

Mr. Boogedy exceeded all of my 80’s film expectations. Humor was over-the-top and special effects were beyond cringe-worthy. Although those two things can be deemed as negative, I absolutely loved it.

Mr. Boogedy is a haunted house film with all of the usual haunted house tropes. Carlton Davis, a gag gift salesman, and his family move into their new home in Lucifer Falls. Upon arrival, Neil Witherspoon (played by John Astin, The Addams Family) warns the family of the house’s history. Of course, as with almost every haunted house movie, this warning is simply shrugged off.

Soon after, Carlton’s children start to have ghostly experiences, such as their teddy bear going missing and hearing sneezes that don’t seem to have a source attached to it.

Mr. Boogedy was a failed pilot but managed to score a sequel titled Bride of Boogedy. Let’s cross our fingers that Disney Plus will include that to their catalog soon.

1. The Scream Team (2002)

Somehow pre-teen me missed The Scream Team when it was released on the Disney Channel. Thankfully, that’s another inclusion in the impressive Disney Plus library. The Scream Team comes complete with cheesy effects and outrageously ridiculous humor.

The Scream Team is another haunted house comedy flick. Youngsters Ian and Claire head to Steeple Falls with their father to help tie up loose ends for their recently deceased grandfather. The kids quickly discover that the house is teeming with ghosts and that their grandfather never reached the other side.

The Scream Team stars Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls, Thor), Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) and Kathy Najimy (Hocus Pocus).
