4. Ghostbusters 2020

  • Director: Jason Reitman
  • Starring: Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, Logan Kim, Annie Pots, Oliver Cooper, and Bill Murray

Synopsis: The upcoming Ghostbusters movie will reunite the original cast and filmmakers and introduce some new characters for another paranormal adventure. A third Ghostbusters film has been in the works for many years.

However, various setbacks including the death of Harold Ramis, have caused the project to get shuffled to the back burner until now. We don’t know much about the plot but we do know this film will ignore the 2016 reboot version and take place directly after the 1989 sequel.

Release Date: July 10

3. The Purge 5

  • Director: Everardo Gout
  • Starring: Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta

Synopsis: We know very little about the fifth installment in The Purge film franchise. Currently, the television version is about halfway through its second season on the USA Network. The Purge 5 has cast its two leads with actress Ana de la Reguera and Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta, per The Hollywood Reporter.

We also know that Everardo Gout will direct. According to the same article from THR, the new film will move the story out of the typical “metropolitan” area, but we know little else at the time. For now, the focus is on promoting the television show but I’m guessing once the sophomore season wraps we’ll be hearing more.
