3. Jen – Halloween: Resurrection

Virtually every character in Halloween: Resurrection is annoying. To save time, I’ll only include the worst of the worst, starting with Jen played by Katee Sackhoff. She is the indefatigably obnoxious attention-seeking friend of protagonist Sara Moyer. There is not one redeeming quality or a real reason to care about Jen.

I don’t believe horror movies have to include dangerously stupid characters doing inexplicably stupid things, but that’s all we get in the 8th film. Can you honestly say Tina Williams is more of a try-hard than Jen?

4. Freddie Harris – Halloween: Resurrection

Ever see NBC’S American adaptation of The Office? Steve Carell portrays an idiosyncratic manager whose evasive employees are unwilling to befriend him. Both he and Freddie evoke a similar reaction, though Freddie isn’t written as delusional. Freddie is perhaps THEE most annoying character in the franchise, and not even just because of the Karate chops.

His business acumen is questionable, the ostensibly self-congratulatory ad-libbed dialogue is inexpressibly horrendous and, somehow, this guy doesn’t notice anything strange happening. Why did they even cast Busta Rhymes? Stunt casting rarely ever works out.

5. Oscar – Halloween (2018)

Touchy-feely friends are fine so long as you’re okay with it, but when it comes to Oscar, neither Allyson nor Cameron seem even remotely comfortable. Oscar watches his friends’ relationship crumble and you’re hoping he’ll comfort Allyson, make sure the young lady gets home alright, and maybe text his bro later. Instead, he proves to be a sycophantic scumbag whose only intention is to take advantage of Allyson’s emotional state and win her heart by drunkenly singing her praises. Although the character is horrible, Drew Scheid portrays him convincingly.

Allyson was clearly conflicted about her feelings and Oscar’s words to her were merely empty offerings of duplicity. Even inebriated, the fact that he believes anything he’s doing will actually work is an insult to Allyson’s intelligence and shows just how little respect he has for her; making Allyson a character every female who’s ever dealt with sketchy dudes can relate to.
