Into The Dark — “Pilgrim” – Episode 114 — Inspired by true events: In an attempt to remind her family of their privilege and help them bond, Ms. Anna Barker invites Pilgrim reenactors to stay with them over Thanksgiving. When the ÒactorsÓ refuse to break character, the Barker family learns that there is such a thing as too much gratitude. Ethan (Peter Giles), shown. (Photo by: Patrick Wymore/Hulu) /

It’s just about time to thaw the bird, peel the potatoes and watch the cranberry jelly slowly slide out of the can. Yes, it’s Thanksgiving, and I’m feeling thankful for a whole lot this year. Here are 5 horror items to be thankful for!

It’s been said before, but there’s no denying that it’s a great time to be a horror fan. From the rebirth of magazines like Fangoria to the arrival of instant genre classics like Midsommar, we’ve got it pretty good these days.

In fact, there’s so much to be thankful for this year, I couldn’t fit it all into one list. Rather than be gluttonous (I have to save some room for pie), I’m highlighting just a few of this year’s most delightful gifts to the horror genre.

So sit back, grab a turkey leg and enjoy this cornucopia of horrifying thanks.

Monthly Macabre: Hulu’s Into the Dark

If there is one constant truth about horror fans, it’s that we like to consume. Where other types of film fans might only watch a couple of movies a month, we horror hounds can burn through twice as many in just days.

With all that demand, Hulu and Blumhouse were happy to team up and supply us with Into the Dark. The series features 12 feature-length films inspired by holidays ranging from the obvious (Halloween) to the potentially more disturbing (Father-Daughter Day).

One of the biggest reasons to give thanks for the series is its inclusion of female and minority voices behind the camera, and I hope they keep it up in season two.
