4. You’re Next

Again, this movie is not set during Thanksgiving, but it is about a family gathering together to celebrate. In this case, Crispian, Drake, Felix and Aimee are celebrating Mom and Dad’s anniversary at their vacation home in Missouri, and each sibling has brought his or her significant other along.

You’re Next doesn’t play around. On the very first night during dinner, an arrow zings through a window, killing one of the guests, and from that point on, viewers barely have time to catch their breath. The killers, who are wearing animal masks, continue their assault on the family throughout the night.

But, something surprising happens. Crispian’s girlfriend Erin has mad survival and combat skills, which she learned from her father. She is a worthy opponent for the attackers, and she dispenses of them as easily as they slaughter the family members.

You’re Next is action-packed, fun, and brutal, so be prepared for lots of throat slashing, stabbings and the like. There is plenty of gore splattered across the screen as we watch Erin fight for her life.

You’re Next was directed by Adam Wingard, who also brought us Death Note, The Guest and Blair Witch (the underappreciated many-years-later sequel to The Blair Witch Project).
