New Evil Dead movie

When we interviewed Bruce Campbell in September, the actor was more than happy to talk to us about the new incarnation of Evil Dead that is in the works. Sam, Rob Tapert and Campbell want to make the film in 2020. There is a writer and a director locked in.

According to the actor, Raimi handpicked the director so already this is looking like the start of something good. While this new reboot of the franchise won’t have Ash Williams, the trio plan to make it a cool, modern Evil Dead.

There are a lot of stories to tell because let’s face it, the reason why the original trilogy worked so well is because it centered around a regular guy who didn’t have any skills in fighting demons. So, therefore, men, women, children, young, old and people of color can take on Deadites.

While fans haven’t really made peace with the concept of no more Ash in the Evil Dead universe, they would like to see another favorite character, Mia return in some fashion from Fede Alvarez’s 2013 remake. That remains to be seen since Jane Levy is super busy these days.

Then there are some followers who want to see the Ghostbeaters reunite and have Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) take on the new minions from hell. Perhaps a crossover with Mia might be in order.

Needless to say, whatever happens and whoever gets cast, there is a market and an appetite for Evil Dead to come back to theaters. As of right now, nothing is listed in IMDb but no doubt, there will probably be more news surrounding this production in 2020.
