Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty is probably what we spent the least of our time on. So far, all we really know about Olivia (played by Danielle Campbell) is that she works as a waitress, and has a cat named Reba.

Writer, Tucker Reed, is shown to be following Olivia and even sneaking into her house. A lot of questions arise, such as has he been doing this for a while? And why do Campbell’s characters always seem to be stalked in Tell Me a Story? Not a lot of answers are provided in this episode, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of these two in the future.

I’m really curious to see how Tell Me a Story will adapt the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Will Olivia become comatose at some point? Only time will tell.

Thanks to my past obsession with The Vampire Diaries universe, I have been wanting more scenes with Campbell and Wesley. In the pilot episode, we received a pretty brief encounter between the two, so I’m glad to see that they will have this entire subplot together.

Cinderella

Jackson Pruitt was previously the lead guitarist for his sister, Ashley Rose. That is, until his mother and Ashley Rose’s manager, Rebecca Pruitt (played by Carrie-Anne Moss, The Matrix) fires him once he’s released from jail after a night of drinking.

After the three-month time jump, Jackson is seen playing lead guitar for a new band at a bar. This is where he spots our Cinderella, Simone. After a lot of flirting, Simone tells Jackson that she has to return home by midnight, in which he jokingly responds, “What? You turn into a pumpkin?” A very obvious Cinderella reference.

Jackson insists that he walks Simone home. Upon exiting the bar and entering the alleyway, he’s jumped by what we originally think is a stranger. It’s after the aggressive man throws accusations that Jackson has been sleeping with his wife that we realize who he is. Minutes prior to Jackson being seen at the bar, he is seen getting out of bed with a woman who does mention having a husband.

We don’t fully know the extent of Simone’s life compared to the Cinderella fairy tale, but I’m sure that’s something we’ll learn soon. Tell Me a Story’s first episode did a lot of setting up, but it’s sure to be a wild ride from here on out.
