FanSided has released its ultimate fandom ranking for 2019 in the FanSided 250 list. Which horror fandoms made the cut? Is your favorite on the list?

It’s that time of year again! FanSided has released the ultimate ranking of popular fandoms for the year of 2019. If you check out the complete FanSided 250 list, you’ll find there are tons of popular films, television shows, sports teams, and more. Even some horror fandoms managed to make the cut.

But in a year of some genuinely fantastic horror, which fandoms made it and which ones got left out?

It: Chapter Two — I’m not too surprised by It: Chapter Two ranking on the list. It ranked at #195 overall and #13 in movies. Considering how anticipated this film was, those numbers are a little low, but many people had mixed feelings on the film compared to the tremendously positive reception of the first.

Bill Hader also managed to rank, which was a pleasant surprise. He’s had a great year as one of the standouts from It: Chapter Two and his stellar work on HBO series Barry.

Jordan Peele Horror — Jordan Peele is another obvious addition to the FanSided 250. He has been making waves since the debut of his film Get Out.

He followed that up this year with the fantastic Us and will continue next year with Lovecraft Country on HBO. Peele will also produce the upcoming Candyman remake next year. He ranked at #9 in movies and #118 overall.

American Horror Story — I think American Horror Story‘s score at #19 in television is fair. Now in its eighth season, the horror anthology series delivered a somewhat underwhelming season this past fall. That said, it has undoubtedly paved the way for a lot of other horror series, and for that, I can appreciate it earning a spot on the FanSided 250. Plus, you don’t find fans more passionate than those in the AHS fanbase, that’s for sure.

Stranger Things Stranger Things released a stellar third season and became the talk of the summer this year. It earned its spot at #20 overall and #2 in TV. Those are impressive numbers, but Stranger Things has been delivering in quality and lovable characters for several years now.

SupernaturalSupernatural‘s rankings are a big surprise! The series has been on for 15 years and is still going strong. Sadly, it is in its final season right now, which may have contributed to its high ranking at #26 overall and #3 in TV (just behind Stranger Things)! However, the show has a dedicated and loyal fanbase too, and it definitely deserves some recognition for how long it has remained on the air.

The Walking Dead — Not unlike its material, The Walking Dead is still hanging on even after many people believed it should have died. Instead, the franchise is gearing up for a second spin-off, and the Rick Grimes movies are supposedly still in the works. I admit I’m a little surprised it came in so high on TV at #5, although it’s overall rating of #56 feels about right.

Other genre contenders on the list:

  • Amazon’s Good Omens comes in at #204 overall and #23 in TV
  • The OA at #246 overall and #32 in TV
  • Area 51 / Aliens at #221 overall and #26 in celebrities
