From Sophie Turner to Sam Raimi to Olivia Wilde, everyone seems to be jumping on the Quibi train. Here are some of the horror shows to expect on the upcoming streaming platform!

Coming April 6, 2020, Quibi will be arriving on smartphones and tablets. For those who are now scratching their heads and wondering what exactly a Quibi is, don’t worry! I got a quick lowdown on the new streaming service.

Quibi, as already mentioned, is a soon-to-be streaming platform for mobile devices only. Jeffrey Katzenberg, former chairman of Disney during its animation renaissance period in the ’90s, and Meg Whitman, former Disney exec who has also worked for companies like DreamWorks, Hasbro and eBay are the co-founders of this new fun platform. With their brilliant resumes, I’m pretty confident that Quibi will do well.

Content is aimed at millennials and provides us with ‘quick bites’ of entertainment. Shows’ run-times are planned to max out at only 10 minutes an episode.

There’s already a planned and very extensive catalog; providing us with 7,000 pieces of content in the first year. That’s a lot of shows. These shows range from drama TV to cooking competitions to flipping houses with a twist.

More from Streaming

Another thing that makes Quibi stand out from the other streaming services are the gimmicks. As will be discussed later in the post, Steven Spielberg will have a show that you can only watch after a certain time. Other shows will allow viewers to change the point of view; depending on how they’re holding their phones.

Sounds awesome, right? Now begs the real question! How much?! Like Hulu, Quibi will have two tiers.

You can enjoy content with ads for $4.99/month; however, if you wanna remove the pesky advertisements from your entertainment, you can pay $7.99/month.

Admittedly, I’m not entirely sold on the monthly prices. Especially with the content only being ‘bite-sized’. However, after learning of the horror selection, I have an inkling that I’m going to cave-in and join. Keep reading to discover some of the horror content coming to Quibi!

50 States of Fright

Sam Raimi’s entry to the streaming service, 50 States of Fright, will be an anthology series that focuses on folklore from each state. Raimi’s series will have an impressive all-star cast, which will include Christina Ricci, Travis Fimmel, Rachel Brosnahan, Jacob Batalon, Ming-Na Wen, Taissa Farmiga, Asa Butterfield, Ron Livingston, and John Marshall John. Everyone announced will appear in at least one episode.

Some episode details have already been revealed. Michigan’s episode will be titled “The Golden Arm” and Colorado’s episode is called “Red Rum.” With that title, we can only assume the episode will take place in the Stanley Hotel; the hotel that inspired Stephen King’s Overlook in The Shining.
