Doctor Sleep is finally headed to DVD and Blu-ray early next year. Find out all the exciting special features that will be included.

Earlier this year we finally got to see the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Doctor Sleep. The book is a sequel to The Shining. Sadly, it didn’t perform as well at the box office as one might have anticipated.

That said, critics and audiences that saw Doctor Sleep still loved it. Even Quentin Tarantino listed it as one of his favorite films of the year.

For those of us who loved the movie, we don’t have to wait much longer to get our hands on a copy of the film. Doctor Sleep will officially be released on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 4, 2020. If you want to buy the movie digitally, you won’t have to wait quite as long as the digital version will be available beginning on January 21.

Perhaps the most exciting news about this announcement is the inclusion of special features and extras. Doctor Sleep will include an extended director’s cut of the movie with a whopping extra 30 minutes of footage, putting the movie’s total runtime at about three hours long.

If you want to get the director’s cut, you’ll need to purchase the 4K or Blu-ray versions. They will also include the following featurettes:

  • Return to the Overlook
  • The Making of Doctor Sleep: A New Vision
  • From Shining to Sleep

Currently, it doesn’t appear that the digital or DVD versions will include the director’s cut.

The press release also doesn’t indicate if they will include the special features as it only specifically mentions the 4K and Blu-ray versions containing them.

You can currently pre-order your copy of Doctor Sleep through Amazon.
