Are you looking for some horror movies to watch for the New Year’s Eve countdown? We’ve selected some unique films to add to your marathon!

If you’re trying to organize a fun horror movie night for New Year’s Eve, we’ve got a few ideas for you to plan your night accordingly. There are a lot of lists out there that will give you horror movies specifically about New Year’s Eve as a holiday.

Those are great, but we decided to put together a list of films perfect for New Year’s that you might not consider as holiday films. If you’re more interested in watching a movie specific to New Year’s, you can find recommendations at Horror News Net and Film School Rejects.

5. The Collection (2012)

Most horror fans have seen The Collector, but The Collection ups the ante on the series by adding more gore, more horror, and more torture. The opening of the film kicks off with one of the craziest and bloodiest rave scenes you’ve ever seen.

The Collector returns and slaughters hundreds of people on the dance floor by releasing multiple deadly traps. The chaos and horror of the opening will make you happy you skipped out on any parties.

The Collection is streaming on Starz.

4. Scream (1996)

If you enjoy movies featuring parties, then you must-watch Scream. Now is the perfect time to rewatch the classic 1996 film, and the entire franchise if you want. Scream has one of the best horror movie party scenes in history. It’s certainly unforgettable.

Scream is streaming on Showtime.

3. Sorority Row (2009)

Something is fitting about watching a slasher movie at the end of the year. It’s time to kill all your 2019 problems before ushering in a new year (and a new decade). Sorority Row is a ridiculous over-the-top slasher based on The Haunting on Sorority Row.

It even features Carrie Fisher! Sorority Row is another film on this list with some great party scenes, because why not get the vibe of a party without actually having to leave your house?

Sorority Row is streaming on Hulu.

2. Happy Death Day (2017)

Happy Death Day is about a college student who finds herself trapped inside a deadly time-loop. It’s a slasher film for the modern era since it gives us a new murderer who tries to kill Tree Gelbman on her birthday. Luckily — or unluckily — for Tree, she gets trapped in a Groundhogs Day-esque loop that allows her to relive her death day until she figures out what’s happening.

New Year’s Eve is all about starting over fresh, right? Well, this is a literal interpretation of that. Plus, Happy Death Day is terrific fun, and if you’re game, you can also check out the sequel.

Happy Death Day is streaming on HBO.

1. New Year, New You (2018)

New Year, New You is an episode of Hulu’s horror holiday anthology series, Into the Dark. It was directed by Sophia Takal and starred Suki Waterhouse, so if you watched and enjoyed the new Black Christmas, you’ll probably like this one too.

Out of all the selections on this list, this is the only one that is set on the holiday. The entire plot revolves around the purpose of New Years.

New Year, New You is streaming on Hulu.

Next. All of Stephen King adaptations currently in the works. dark
